I had the worst dream last night. Alison and I were riding our bikes down a country road in the evening when it was dark. The middle of the country dark where there are no lights and you can barely see your hand in front of your face. We were just chatting like we normally do, enjoying the ride. We rode up a hill and struggled to make it up. Then on the left in an open field stood Hatter. (from the Alice in Wonderland movie where Johnny Depp was Hatter) It was dark and gray except for Hatter's colorful clothing. I just said, "hey, it's Hatter." And we continued on. We came to a place where there were buildings and other people and I said, "so do you want to turn around and head back?" Alison said, "sure". So we headed back. Alison hadn't noticed Hatter the first time passed, so I pointed him out again, "see there he is on the right." About 30 seconds later I asked Alison a question and she did not answer. I said her name. She did not answer. A said her name over and over again and turned around to head back the other way. I did not see her and she did not answer. I couldn't get my head around how she could have just disappeared in 30 seconds. The fear welled up in my stomach and then I woke up.
I was afraid to go back to sleep so I got up for a minute, walked around the house and went back to bed. Again, I was still afraid to close my eyes and had to fight the urge to check on her upstairs (but I did not want to wake her up in the middle of the night). So eventually I just put my ear buds in with my iPOD on and finally fell asleep again. When Alison woke up this morning, I gave her a great big hug!
Take away - do not eat big huge yummy hamburger with bleu cheese sauce from Bud and Stanley's at 9:30 PM after watching Alice and Wonderland in 3D. Never Again!!
