death of a friend

a man died the other day. he had gone to the hospital for treatment of an unknown ailment. later that day he was found laying on the ground. dead.

the death did not make the news. it was not considered a newsworthy event. he was just another homeless man who succumbed to his addiction and paid the ultimate price. between joel and i, we pooled our resources and found an obituary online with the battle creek newspaper. this man had a wife and children and grand children who cared enough to put the obit in the paper. i hope they know that he touched the lives of many people in the northwest quadrant of grand rapids. i for one will miss the way he would say to me..."hey...what's your name again? missy...you got a buck?"
